This Omega Geneve Lady Cal 485 Ref: 511.370 is an extremely rare timepiece produced by Swiss luxury watchmaker Omega. This model is known for its elegant and timeless design, focusing on classic aesthetics and understated luxury.
During the quartz revolution of the 1970s, Omega adapted by incorporating quartz movements into their range of watches. This period saw the introduction of both analog and digital quartz models, reflecting the changing preferences of the era. However, in the 1990s, Omega refocused on mechanical movements and traditional craftsmanship.
The Geneve collection also offers a range of watches designed specifically for women. These models often feature smaller case sizes, intricate detailing, and a mix of materials and precious stones.
Here we have an overhauled 1969 Omega Geneve Lady Cal 485 Ref: 511.370 Mechanical Watch in near mint condition.
A good and thorough clean-up revealed a beautifully preserved silver sunburst dial, and 3D baton Indices and hands.
Its classy and stylish shaped case was buffed as best as possible without compromising its shape, lines albeit a few minor scratches that are barely noticeable to the naked eye. The crystal is original and is constructed from mineral glass.
The crown is located at the traditional 3H position and is easily accessible.
The movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled, re-assembled, and calibrated on 11 March 2024. In short, it was given an overhaul and not a general servicing. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby giving the owner peace of mind.
Equipped with the high grade and highly prized 485 movement made from copper-plated beryllium-bronze, it has 17 Jewels and operate at 21,600 beats per hour (BPH) giving it excellent accuracy and longevity. The time-grapher, after 60 hours of calibration, shows stunning readings i.e. rate of +7 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 273 with a relatively straight and centered line! Such readings are truly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve and longevity for such a vintage timepiece, and of course the meticulous care provided over the years, and expert calibration.
The case width and height are approximately 18mm (without crown) and 24mm respectively. The lug width is 9mm and the strap can accommodate wrists up to 16.0cm.
The timepiece comes with a hi-quality Cassis brand genuine leather strap with silver buckle. The Buyer has the option of choosing a brand new genuine leather strap from my array of straps should she wishes to do so.
To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Omega components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts or modified thereby it is considered in near MINT condition.
Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.
The pictures provided shows the watch in mint condition. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. An aftermarket box or purposeful carrying case will be provided instead.
Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and preserved for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT none as beautifully aged and as well maintained as what you see here. Hence, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in 1969! Another no-brainer is the fact that the value of this watch will appreciate over time.
Because it is extremely rare, this Omega Geneve Cal 485 Ref 511.370 is not easily found on online sites. Previous online sales indicate its value is between S$ 746.00 to S$ 1,362.00 from really horrible, to un-serviced, to "as is," to serviced, to refurbished models. Do note that the mentioned prices may / do not include currency conversions, commissions, taxes and freight costs etc.
This overhauled, calibrated and buffed Cal 485 timepiece is being sold here for S$ 758.00 which is extremely reasonable. So, NO LOW-BALLERS, please! Take note that low-ballers, trolls and wannabe advisors (whose "advise" is completely unwelcomed) will not be entertained, and should they persist, they will be reported and blocked!
Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 200.00 to S$ 250.00 for an Omega overhaul, an estimated S$ 100.00 to calibrate, and S$ 120.00 to clean, polish and tighten the bracelet links of this watch - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.
This is a beautiful timepiece that would make a beautiful present for that special someone born in 1969.
This is a must-have for the Omega die-hard fan, and in fact, any serious watch collector for that matter!
