This Omega Lady Tank Cal 620 Ref: 511.015 is an extremely rare timepiece produced by Swiss luxury watchmaker Omega. This model design is known for its elegant and timeless design, focusing on classic aesthetics and understated luxury.
During the quartz revolution of the 1970s, Omega adapted by incorporating quartz movements into their range of watches. This period saw the introduction of both analog and digital quartz models, reflecting the changing preferences of the era. However, in the 1990s, Omega refocused on mechanical movements and traditional craftsmanship.
Here we have an overhauled 1965 Omega Lady Cal 620 Ref: 511.015 Mechanical Watch in near mint condition.
A good and thorough clean-up revealed a beautifully preserved silver sunburst dial, 3D baton Indices and hands.
Its case and crystal were buffed as best as possible albeit miniscule scratches are still present but barely noticeable.
The crown is located at the traditional 3H position and is easily accessible.
The movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled, re-assembled, and calibrated on 24 April 2024. In short, it was given an overhaul and should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby giving the owner peace of mind.
Equipped with the high grade and highly prized 620 movement made from copper-plated beryllium-bronze, it has 17 Jewels and operate at 18,000 BPH. The time-grapher shows stunning readings i.e. rate of +3 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 228 with a straight and centered line! Such readings are truly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve, the meticulous care provided over the years, and expert calibration.
The case width and height are approximately 20mm (w/o crown) and 26mm respectively. The lug width is 10mm and the bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 15cm.
The timepiece comes with a vintage tapered SS bracelet with clasp. It too underwent ultrasonic cleaning and is now in excellent condition.
To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Omega components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.
Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.
The pictures provided shows the watch in excellent condition. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A brand new EVA pouch is provided instead.
Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and preserved for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT none as beautifully aged and as well maintained as what you see here. This is a beautiful timepiece that would make a beautiful present for that special someone born in 1962, and its value will appreciate over time.
Because it is extremely rare, this Omega Tank Cal 620 Ref 511.015 is not easily found on online sites. Previous online sales indicate its value is between S$ 722.00 to S$ 867.00 for "as is" models. Do note that the mentioned prices may / do not include currency conversions, commissions, taxes and freight costs etc.
This overhauled, calibrated and buffed Cal 620 Ref 511.015 timepiece is being sold here for S$ 755.00 which is extremely reasonable. So, NO LOW-BALLERS, please! Take note that low-ballers, trolls and wannabe advisors (whose "advise" is completely unwelcomed) will not be entertained, and should they persist, they will be reported and blocked!
Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 200.00 to S$ 250.00 for an Omega overhaul, an estimated S$ 100.00 to calibrate, and S$ 120.00 to clean, polish and tighten the bracelet links of this watch - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.
This is a must-have for the Omega die-hard fan, and in fact, any serious watch collector for that matter!
