Tissot was founded by Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile Tissot in the Swiss town of Le Locle, known for its watchmaking heritage. Initially, they started a comptoir d'établissage, a workshop that assembled watches using parts sourced from local craftsmen.
In 1853, Tissot introduced the first mass-produced pocket watch, and in the same year, they also introduced the first pocket watch with two time zones, and the first anti-magnetic watch in 1929.
In 1930, Tissot merged with Omega, forming the SSIH group (Société Suisse pour l'Industrie Horlogère). This merger allowed Tissot to leverage Omega's expertise while maintaining its distinct identity.
Tissot introduced the T-Touch collection in 1999, featuring tactile technology that allows wearers to access various functions by touching the watch's crystal.
In 1983, the SSIH group merged with Allgemeine Gesellschaft der Schweizerischen Uhrenindustrie AG (ASUAG) to form the Swatch Group, one of the world's largest watch conglomerates.
Here we have an overhauled 1967 Tissot Visodate Seastar PR516 Lady Automatic Diver Watch in excellent condition.
A good and thorough clean-up revealed a beautifully preserved black dial, 3D Baton Indices with Syringe Hands. The lumens on the indices and hands are operable! Cool!
Its silver case and crystal were buffed as best as possible without compromising its shape, lines albeit a few minor scratches are still present. The bezel rotates smoothly after a good clean-up.
The signed crown is located at the traditional 3H position and is easily accessible.
The movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled, re-assembled, and calibrated on 25 May 2024. In short, it was given an overhaul and should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby giving the owner peace of mind.
Equipped with the high grade and highly prized 744 movement, it has 21 Jewels and operate at 21,600 BPH. The time-grapher shows stunning readings of +19 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 158 with a relatively straight centered line! Such readings are impressive even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve, the meticulous care provided over the years, and expert calibration.
The case width and height are approx. 27mm (w/o crown) and 33.5mm respectively. The lug width is 14mm and the NATO strap can accommodate wrists up to 21cm.
The timepiece comes with a brand new hi-quality NATO strap with silver buckle. The Buyer has the option to choose the NATO strap available (Black, Black/Red, and Blue/Yellow).
To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Tissot components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.
Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.
The pictures provided shows the watch in excellent condition. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A brand new EVA pouch is provided instead.
This rare watch will make a beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in 1967, and its value will appreciate over time.
Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and preserved for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
Valued between S$ 807.00 to S$ 885.00 with original bracelet, this overhauled, calibrated and buffed Tissot Visodate Seastar PR516 is being sold here for S$ 585.00 which is extremely reasonable. So, NO LOW-BALLERS, please! Take note that low-ballers, trolls and wannabe advisors (whose "advise" is completely unwelcomed) will not be entertained, and should they persist, they will be reported and blocked!
Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 180.00 to S$ 200.00 for an overhaul, an estimated S$ 100.00 to calibrate, and S$ 120.00 to clean, polish and tighten the bracelet links (if applicable) of this watch - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.
This is a must-have for the Tissot die-hard fan, and in fact, any serious watch collector for that matter!
